'Rock' is comes from the Western music, while 'Raaga' is what Indian classical music is based on – so Rock 'N' Raaga brings you the purest form of the Indian music, added with a dash of music from the West. Enjoy their superb pieces of electric guitars, their deep bass and their groovy drum beats. Rock 'N' Raaga aims to take Indian music to the masses. They have done experiments with classical, semi-classical, folk and Sufi music, and have made them entertaining for the Indian youth. Members: Abhishek Raj on lead vocals – he has been to the Indian classical music since the age of eight. Hailing from the renowned, Banaras gharana, he possesses versatility in singing, with excellent command over taans and sargams, and that is what makes him the backbone of the band. He also composes music for the band. Shravan Kumar on lead guitars and backing vocals – his journey dates back to when he was just nine. Hailing from classical-music background, Shravan has great knowledge of ragas, and hits perfect notes. He has learned music from the prestigious music school Gandharva Mahavidyalaya for two years. Prasanna Kumar Das on tabla: Another member from the classical background, Prasanna gained knowledge from his father who is also a professional tabla player. Been learning since the age of six, he hails from the Ajrara gharana. He is known to be an introvert who hardly speaks! Samar Yadav on bass and backing vocals Started as a singer at the age of 14, Samar felt something missing to himself and luckily saw that in Darya Ganj – it was an acoustic guitar! He played it for three years, and switched to bass guitar. Samar adds bass notes to the band’s compositions, along with a great stage presence. Gurdeep Singh on keyboards and synthesizer Shravan noticed Gurdeep playing keyboards at a college fest, and asked him to join the band. Gurdeep has Western influences, and beautifully adds melodies to the songs. Tushar Kamra on drums and percussions Last but not the least, comes the powerhouse of Rock 'N' Raaga – Tushar Kamra. He has been playing drums since the age of 12, and completed his grade five, a couple of years back. Now a 19-year-old young boy, Tushar is influenced from metal music and has been a part of various bands. With his double-base pedals, he makes everybody surprised with his groovy beats. Besides, he plays congo, dhol, djembe, and octapad, too.
