The culture of Delhi is highly influenced by its long history. But, as we can see, Delhi is also influenced by the Punjabi culture, thanks to the number of people who shifted here from pre and post-independence Punjab.
The city is known to host some of the biggest music festivals in India.
Some of the most famous singers from the capital city are Daler Mehndi, Ashok Mastie, Bohemia, Jaz Dhami, Bilal Saeed, etc.

Daler Mehndi

Daler Mehndi inherited the legacy of music from his family and is blessed with versatile power-pitched vocals and a dynamic spirit. His inimitable and innovative style of music is responsible for the elevation of pop music to a degree of reverence that it commands today.
From his bashful folkie yet celebrated debut with ‘Bolo Ta Ra Ra Ra’ to the glam and glitter of the rock-inspired ‘Balle Balle’; from the Internet sensation ‘Tunak Tunak’ to the charm of ‘Ru-Ba-Ru’; from the mysticism of Sufi ‘Bismillah’ to the patriotic ‘Rang De Basanti’, his music exemplifies the aesthetics. Conferred as the Pasha of Pop, Sultan of Swing, The King of Bhangra-Pop, and Sardar of Swing, Mehndi’s route map to musical monarchy is well-trodden.
Mehndi’s high-voltage performances – the ‘Powerhouse Performer’ – packaged with admirable choreography and famous hook dance steps, create an atmosphere that is highly contagious.

Ashok Mastie

Ashok Mastie is a veteran Punjabi singer who is on the top when it comes to Pop Bhangra. Ashok is based in Delhi but was born and brought up in Faridkot, Punjab. Ashok Mastie came into limelight with the song ‘Glassy’. Till date, people groove on to this music, when it comes to enjoying the bhangra.
Ashok says that ‘masti’ to him is music and that is the reason why he puts all his efforts into his every song. He has created ripples in the music industry with the song ‘Clap on the Beat’. His most prominent albums include ‘Freeway Bhangra’, ‘Clap on the Beat’, ‘Yeh Hai Masti’, and ‘Planet Bhangra’.
There was a Haryanvi film, ‘Laado’ in which Ashok Mastie got featured. But, to him, the mainstream profession was singing only. He is an artist who is not only known for his fabulous singing but also for electrifying stage performances. His different style has created a sensation in the world of music.

Globally known as the inventor of Punjabi Rap, Bohemia is a well recognized and inspiring rapper and producer. Since the beginning of his career, he was known for his innovation in music.
