Madhuparna is a talented playback singer and composer who is also popular as a LIVE performer. Her forte is combining traditional and modern tunes to create something magical for her audience. She specializes in Indi pop, fusion, Indian classical, Sufi, electro fusion and Indi rock. She has trained in semi-classical music and ghazals under the guidance of Ustad Mehendi Hassan Khan. Her performances are pretty renowned in UK as well as in India. She belongs to the Kirana gharana. Aarohi 2009 was the platform in which she showcased her talent as an aspiring star. She won her first district level award at the age of six in Assam, her birthplace. She sang on AIR Assam at the age of eight. She received training from Sangeet Martand under the guidance of Ustad Mohammad Dilshad Khan. Her intercollegiate awards include Mood Indigo in 1991 and Malhar in 1992. Her recognition from Mithibai College as the Best Musical Talent was observed in 1992. She won the first national level talent show named Startrack in 1996 and recorded her first album with this company. She also released a new age album called Indian Secrets in 2006 and composed and sang a song called Sar Utha Ke Jio which was released by Universal Music in 2008. Madhuparna composed for Bollywood’s I Am Kalam and short film, Kabool Hain.
