Artist Insights

India-born, California raised folk fusion songstress, Zoya, has been praised by the likes of The Huffington Post, Wondering Sound, Rolling Stone India, ELLE and more for her innovative sound intertwining folk singer-songwriter music and the inescapable allure of her entrancing cross cultured vocal style, coupled with intense, stirring harmonies, and eclectic instrumentation. She received high acclaim on her first record, Letters to Toska (November 2015) for its experimental take on the DIY singer-songwriter genre. Her newest album, The Girl Who Used to Live in My Room (July 2015), released in support of her successfully funded Kickstarter and her latest release, Natural Disaster, (October 2016) has stirred up a storm as the Indie folk girl we used to know is caught pushing her boundaries in attempts to capture a bolder, semi-electronic soundscape. In October 2015, she released an electronic remix compilation album entitled, Zoya: Plugged In. The album is a collaboration project featuring nine different producers who have remixed nine of Zoya's most popular singles in hopes to raise awareness through electronic music for the need for electricity to provide a better educational environment in rural India. As a Music Business graduate from world-renowned Berklee College of Music, Zoya continues to act a pioneer in the global music industry while following her true passion as a touring singer-songwriter. She has toured and opened for the likes of Kawehi, Storyman, Salman Rushdie, Ryan Scott, Raghu Dixit, Lucy Rose, Natty, Susheela Raman and more. Zoya is carving a home for herself in the indie folk music world. Unmasking her conscience in her confessional songwriting and orchestral arrangements, these revelations gather Zoya’s experiences and understandings of the lives with whom she has brushed shoulders. To foster her eclectic sound and preserve her wanderlust nature, Zoya is now based in Mumbai and Los Angeles. Beginning the journey in her birth country, India, her childhood home in Southern California, and unea
