My Compelling Story

WHAT is a LIVE band based out of the capital city of India, New Delhi. As they find themselves composing a new sort of sound on their own and not being able to figure out what exactly it is to be called, they named themselves after the rhetoric 'What'. Or better yet, 'partly philosophical lectures, partly a fun nightout in the town', is what makes them friends and like-minded musicians. Band Members: Hiya – Vocals  With a dark and velvety tone, Hiya is an outstanding performer with an excellent melismatic control over her voice. As a teenager, she completed her homework early and studied the greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James. Her musical path unfolded further as she set off to learn rock and pop at the Delhi School of Music for four years. She was sponsored by BINDASS Channel and Disney India to study music at the AR Music Institute in Chennai. Hiya has performed at the Amazon Fashion Week for Raw Mango - by Sanjay Garg. She is the winner of the Topper's Award by Trinity College of Music, London. Mikki – Guitars  Contributing immensely to the band's original songwriting and compositions, Mikki invokes an emotional response for those who listen to his pieces. And with apt melody, layering, effects and harmony, he increases the song's appeal to the listeners. Mark – Bass  Mark gives each song the groove and depth they need to get the crowd to feel their music. He is a professional and proficient drummer as well. Abhishek – Keyboards Abhishek started his musical journey guiding his juniors as the college music society's President. After performing in various Western and Indian ensembles across New Delhi, he continued to pursue other collaborations and explored different musical styles. Shrey – Drums  A powerful and energetic drummer, Shrey steals the show by feeding on the audience's energy and excitement. With his rhythmic and powerful drum-play, he keeps the audience fixated on their seats. He brings in the heat with his rhythm and tempo on all the songs. Sayan – Lead Guitars  With a fierce and unbending dedication to his art, Sayan is an inspiration focal point for WHAT. Apart from playing the lead, he brings along an in-depth knowledge of music to develop the mood and aura of the songs they play or compose.
