Vachan Chinnappa is a professional DJ based out of the IT capital of India, Bangalore. Since playing a collection of tapes at small venues in a small town did not sound much like a career plan, Vachan’s music career then morphed into a full-time job, and became his raison d’etre, so to speak. A small-town boy from South India, he already shocked his family and friends and opted out of the regular way of life when he picked being in a hard rock band called Z-Axis over a traditional career. For five years, he sang covers of 1980s' heavy metal bands at small gigs and had a great time doing it. Vachan hung up his leather jackets and bands, but not his love for music, which is what kept him looking for other ways through which he could explore sound, and lead him to DJing. In the next 13 years, Vachan has spun many records at some of the country’s best clubs and happily provided the aural visions to many celebrations. From EDM, he quickly began to play funky house music. When house music started to feel a little stale, he moved on to electro house much before anybody else did, and then onto techno music, and more recently, ever since it become ubiquitous, begun playing more Drum n Bass and dubstep.
