Uma Bharti is best known for her stringent religious views, i.e., Hindutva ideology, fiery speeches, and her alleged role in the demolition of Babri Masjid on 6 December 1992.She was born in a poor family of peasants in May 1959. She was mentored by Rajmata of Gwalior- Late Vijaya Raje Scindia. Advani and subsequent expulsion from BJP, she formed her own party named Bharatiya Janshakti Party, now defunct, on 30 April 2006 in Ujjain; only to return later in BJP on 7 June 2011. She often does charities for the poor and destitute through Mata Betibai Charitable Trust and Manav Jagriti Sangh. Once, she went on a fast unto death during Digvijaya Singhs reign in MP, for the welfare of the daily wagers in Bhopal.She has also interest in writing and has penned down 3 books in Hindi namely, Swami Vivekanand in 1972, Peace of Mind (published in Africa) in 1978 and Manav Ek Bhakti Ka Naata in 1983.She is known for her fierce oratory skills.A Pamphlet distributed during assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh in 2003 listed Uma Bhartis Ideological Inspirations- Che Guevara and Michael Schumacher.
