Tirath Singh Rawat is an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.Tirath Singh Rawats career in politics started during his college days when he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the students wing of the Hindu nationalist organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).He served the RSS as a pracharak (promoter) of the organisation from 1983 to 1988. A picture from around 1987 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee had come for a Garhwal tour and Tirath (extreme right), who was then an RSS pracharak, was overseeing the tour.He stayed in jail for two months during the Ram Temple movement in the early 90s.He played an active role in the Uttarakhand formation movement.
