The Wooden Shield is a LIVE band based out of Kochi, Kerala. It is an indie band that plays fusion. The band is comprised of only percussionists – 12 drummers. What binds them all together is the fact that they are all students of Mr Jerry Peter. It all started when a group aged from 12 to 30 decided to give a LIVE performance under the guidance of Jerry at the St Alberts School on 31 October 2010. The response was so overwhelming that they decided to form a percussion band and continue. Right now, they are busy rehearsing for their next series of shows. These will have a whole range of instruments – from the shakers to the congas, from thumba to Kabaz, which come under the percussion category.
