The Vinyl Records, also known as TVR, is a four-piece post-punk-indie-rock band based out of the capital city of India, New Delhi. The band was formed in February 2010. It was founded by Banu, Minam and Mithy, who all hail from the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. This one is an all-girl band. The band took one year to become functional and LIVE, because, throughout the year, the girls jammed to come up with ideas. The final touching of the band occurred when it was joined by the present vocalist and keytarist, Cheyyrian Bark, from Assam, in January 2011. Since then, the band never looked back. TVR is making a lot of musical noise in India and has received a positive response from Rolling Stone India, RSJ, Tehelka, Cosmopolitan, and the editors of Marie Claire magazine that has featured TVR on their pages. The band takes cues from inspirational acts like CSS, The Clash, Strokes and the B-52. TVR describes its sound as indie, post-punk and the sound from the new wave eras of the 70s and 80s, when analogue and the early digital sound was popular in the scene, along with fusing indie and post-punk with a dash of glam rock kitsch with the keytar! The band got featured on MTV F1 Rocks 2011 and stood among the 15 finalists of Ray Ban Never Hidesounds 2012.
