The Saturday Night Blues is a four-piece LIVE band based out of Kolkata. The band, made up of Kolkata’s working musicians, has been performing every Saturday night at Someplace Else, the 'Music Mecca' of India - The Park Hotel, and Hotel Downtown (Kolkata). Jayanta Dasgupta – a veteran in the act for over 25 years, a guitar graduate from the Guitar Institute of Technology, Musician’s Institute, Hollywood – always inspires the band to play its forte of blues rock and jazz blues, since January 2000. This band plays it all, be it the the chic and groovy sounds of Chicago, down home delta blues of Mississippi, the gritty blues of Texas or contemporary blues, the smokin’ jazz blues of New Orleans. Their setlist consists of songs from acts like Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Albert Collins, Howlin’ Wolf, Albert King, Elmore James, Freddie King, Koko Taylor, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, BB King, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Robert Cray, and many others. The Saturday Night Blues has performed at venues across the country: Henry Thams, Mumbai Not Just Jazz by The Bay, Mumbai The Blue Frog, Mumbai Turquoise Cottage, Delhi Haze Blues and Jazz Bar, Delhi QBA, Delhi The Madras Cricket Club, Chennai The Leather Bar, Chennai Presidency Club, Chennai The Bamboo Bay, Visakhapatnam East Coast Golf Club, Hyderabad 10 Downing Street, Hyderabad Sula Festival, Nashik AQUA, Bangalore Hard Rock Cafe, Pune ...and many others. The band also played the opening bill at The Mahindra Blues Festival, Mumbai, 2011. Their sound is energetic, lively, and strongly groove driven, which has earned them a massive, steady following. Their informal and interactive approach towards the music and the audiences always results in pure entertainment. Band Members: Jayanta Dasgupta – Vocals, Guitar A graduate from the Guitar Institute of Technology, Musician’s Institute, Hollywood, California, Jayanta got trained under renowned musicians like Tim Bogart, Scott Henderson, Keith Wyatt, Robben Ford, and Daniel Gilbert. He has been playing in India for the last 25 years and has also performed in London, Los Angeles, and Germany.  Arunima Dasgupta – Vocals, Percussion Arunima is a trained drummer and pianist, and a self-taught vocalist. She has been a part of the professional music circuit since October ’99 and has performed in London and New York. Stuart Munro – Vocals, Bass Guitar Stuart is a self-taught musician. He has been playing in the professional music circuit for the last 27 years and has toured nationwide. Avinash Chordia – Drums Has been playing in the professional music circuit in India for the past 10 years, Avinash's playing encompasses a wide variety of styles including rock, blues, fusion, jazz-funk, and pop. He has toured nationwide and in the UK.
