Biography

The Free Fall is a LIVE band based out of Kochi, Kerala.  It is an acoustic rock, blues, and Carnatic band. Simplicity is their forte. Hummable melodies are what they thrive on. The band plays foot-tapping, mood-setting originals which will make you hum along with tunes. The singer-songwriters, Abhilash and Vaisakh, constitute The Free Fall duo. They compose their songs in five different languages, namely, Hindi, English, Malayalam, Tamil, and Assamese. They hope to break the language barrier in music by appropriately blending the folk elements of different parts of India. Vaisakh Somanath Vaisakh Somanath is a trained Carnatic vocalist from Malappuram, Kerala. He is one of the singer-songwriters of the duo, and his interests include blues, folk, funk, country, and electronic music.  He listens to Jason Mraz, Sanjay Subrahmanyan and Kaushiki Chakraborty with the same fervour. He tries to blend the elements of Indian music with other genres to create unique songs. He has also scored music for a few short films. He is a blogger, an avid traveller, and a movie buff too. Abhilash Choudhury Abhilash Choudhury is an independent singer- songwriter hailing from the state of Assam, India, and currently based in Kochi. His musical influences include various artists such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, etc. The prime elements of his music are his honesty and simplicity of songwriting, acoustic grooves and soothing melodies. He combines elements of folk, blues, jazz, acoustic rock, and country music to come up with an acoustic sound.
