Bassist Homi Rustumji, ace drummer/vocalist Yohan Marshal and Apurv Isaac, and the cool pony tailed guitarist/vocalist, also known as Lala, are the new indie music unstoppable trio band called “The Family Cheese’, and they love their breakfast! Three musicians from various parts of India and the world meet at music school and start making music together; they love it, people seem to love it too. So they head out into the world to spread their music to anyone and everyone they can. No show is ever the same as the mad jamming and improvisational performances can go anywhere and everywhere; and all are welcome to join in the trip. The Family Cheese set out to silence the critics and give the people a fresh exciting experience in the Indian music scene and it shall never be the same again! Homi Rustumji - Bass The music of this three piece band varies from blues to drum and bass, from electronica to jazz fusion. “All three of us have similar tastes in music but we have very different backgrounds and approaches to music,” says Apurv. “That is what sets us apart”. The band’s signature is its improvisational ability and in incorporating complex Carnatic rhythm structures delivered with dynamic energy and incredible grooves. They already have outstanding gigs under their sleeve and awards to prove it: Winner at the Chennai Live Band Hunt 2011 Winner at the prestigious ‘India Today’ Mind Rocks Youth Contest. Placed among top 3 bands in top professional competitions at IIT Chennai, IIT Kharagpur, IIM Bangalore, Symbiosis Pune, Wildfire Students choice Battle of the bands and several other ones.
‘The Family Cheese’ has already become one of the most talked about bands in the college scene in India. “We are being taught how to be musical with everything,” says Apurv Isaac (Guitarist). They have been featured on shows like "The Balcony Tv", "leapFrog to Coke Studio", and many other concerts with a review from NH7 itself!
