Tanuj Mahashabde has done a diploma in Marine Communication from Indore. Later, he moved to Mumbai and started learning the basics of theatre in from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kala Kendra, Mumbai..He has done theatre for over 15 years.He had developed an interest in writing and has co-written a few scripts with other professional writers.Tanuj Mahashabde has appeared in many episodic shows in small roles including CID and Aahat.He got recognition for his role in Ye Duniya Hai Rangeen.Due to some family issues, he went back to his hometown and started working as an acting teacher in Indore.Later the director of Ye Duniya Hai Rangeen called Tanuj Mahashabde to come back and join his new show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
