My Compelling Story
Talat Aziz is a professional singer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. He is a ghazal singer who has been singing for the last 31 years. He has sung all over the world and had the honor of getting invited to sing exclusively for Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Kumarakom Kerala in December 2000. He performed in the Indian Parliament Annexe for the Members of Parliament in 2003. Talat was also a personal guest of Kind Mohammud VI of Morrocco and had the pleasure of meeting the big shots of Europe like Sir Sean Connery. He recently performed with Asha Bhonsle in an exclusive Bollywood retro tour titled ‘Iconic Tour’. Talat Aziz has been trained in music from Kirana Gharana. He was trained by Ustad Samad Khan and later by Ustad Fayaz Ahmed, who were famous classical music singers. Later, Talat decided to learn music from the maestro, Late Mehdi Hassan. On many occasions, he shared the same stage with his mentor on concerts in India and abroad. He got his first major break in Hyderabad. He was invited to sing in King Kothi, housing a crowd of 5,000 people. Under the suggestion of Late Jagjit Singh, he moved to Mumbai in 1976. There, he was trained under Faiyaz Ahmed Khan and Ustad Samaad Khan. With the help of Jagjit Singh, he released his first album in 1979 titled 'Jagjit Singh Presents Talat Aziz'. Talat has also sung ghazals for films like Bazaar and Umrao Jaan, which were super-hit. Talat has also composed music and acted in various TV serials like Deewar, Baaz, Adhikaar, Ghutan, Sailaab, Aashirwaad, and Noorjehan. Talat released many albums like Talat Aziz LIVE, Ehsaas, Suroor, Saughaat, Tasavvur, Storms, Manzil, Dhadkan, Shankar, Mehboob, Khubsoorat, Irshaad, Khushnuma, and Caravan-e-Ghazal. Recently, he released a ghazal album with Anup Jalota and Pankaj Udhas, called 'Destiny'. He starred in Mahesh Bhatt's film,`Dhun', in 1990, opposite to Sangeeta Bijlani. Unfortunately, the film never got released for various reasons, but the music was released by HMV in 1991 and featured hit tracks like ' Main Aatma Tu Parmaatma' and other tracks like 'Yaad Aane Waale', which became a rage with the young crowds.
