Swaroop Khan is a professional singer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. Born in Jaisalmer in 1991, he hails from a family where music has been running in their blood for generations together. Due to his upbringing in a musical environment, he carried forward the family legacy and started singing at the tender age of five with his father, Niyaz Khan, and uncle, Anwar Khan, in their folk group. This is where he also mastered musical instruments like Khartal and Morchang. It was his eternal love and dedication towards music, which led him to enter Sony’s Indian Idol Season 5, where he won the hearts of over a million fans, as well as the judges of the reality show. His art of singing folk music was widely admired all over the world. He scored the fourth runner-up position at Indian Idol. During his early age, he acted as a child artist in a movie called Milk and Opium (Dhoodh Aur Apheem) by Joel Palombo. The movie was nominated for Friedens (Peace) Film Award at Bermin International Film Festival. Swaroop was also awarded the Best Male Actor at the Brooklyn International Film Festival. Swaroop got his first break in Bollywood as a playback singer of the title track of Emotional Atyachaar by Bappi Lahiri in 2010. Later, he was presented with an opportunity by composer and music director, Salim-Sulaiman to sing an Alaap in the remixed version of the popular song, Judas – The Desi Remix by Lady Gaga. This proved to be a milestone in the career of Swaroop Khan. Later, he sang 'Shahar Mumbai Hai' for Overtime, a 2012 movie directed by Ajay Yadav. He also sang the Alaap for the song 'Mitwa' by Maati Bani. He recently sang a song for the film, Ata Pata Lapata. Swaroop is a complete music enthusiast and has performed in various LIVE shows around the world and playback singing in Bollywood.
