Sunita Khaund Bhuyan is an Indo-fusion violinist and vocalist and is trained in the Hindustani style from her mother, Minoti Khaund, and by music maestro, Late Pandit VG Jog. She is specialized in Indo-jazz fusion and world folk styles. Her first album was folk music on the violin – 'Bihu Strings' – released by Times Music. Her recent projects are Edinburgh, Commonwealth Culture Series UK, With Strings Attached, Beyond Boundaries London, music for 'Save the Rhino' by Yes Bank and CNBC, and a world music quartet with the Peninsula Studios. Sunita has received many awards like Priyadarshini Award for Excellence, REX Karmaveer Global Award, Giants International Award for Women, and a blessing certificate from Pope Francis at the Vatican for her work on music therapy with cancer patients, underprivileged children, and people with disability. She is the ambassador for the South Asian Women's Fund in Sri Lanka. She has done theme-based events and has worked with corporates/forums/conferences and educational institutions. The music that Sunita plays is a composition of semi-classical, Indo-jazz fusion, world folk, and some Bollywood.
