Suma Sudhindra is a professional veena player based out of the capital city of Karnataka, Bangalore. Her biggest contribution to the world of music is the 'Tarangini Veena', invented by her. It is a small version of the Saraswathi Veena. The Tarangini Veena is a light and compact veena, which is easy to carry and play. She runs an organization called Tarangini Arts Foundation that conducts cultural festivals annually to promote Indian classical music. The organization also provides veena lessons and training on other instruments of classical music. Suma received the 'Rajyotsava award' in 2001, from Karnataka Government.
