Biography

Subrata Bhattacharya is a professional instrumentalist based out of Kolkata. This very talented person is a proficient tabla player. Shri Tamal Krishna Chatterjee, Shri Nripen Karmakar, Shri Tapan Kumar Banerjee and Pandit Shankar Ghosh were his teachers. He became a worthy exponent of the Farukhabad gharana. Subrata received awards and recognitions from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad such as Sangeet Prabhakar, Gold Medal and Sangeet Praveen. He was awarded the Sangeet Bhushan from the Bhatkhande College, Lucknow. Not only has Subrata impressed audiences in India, but he has enchanted people in the USA, the Middle East and Europe. Dover Lane Music Conference, ITC Sangeet Sammelan Calcutta, Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan, Salt Lake Music Festival, Bhawanipur Sangeet Sammelan, Dakhini Sangeet Sammelan, Golpark Rama Krishna Mission Annual Music Conference, Calcutta, A.I.R. Concerts and Radio FM Music Concert  are a few places where he has performed for his ardent fans. He performed at Sparsh in Lucknow. In Mumbai, he performed at the National Center for Performing Arts. In Delhi, he staged an event at the India International Center. He has accompanied Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Dr L Subramaniam, Dr N Rajam, Pandit Buddhaditya Mukherjee, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, Pandit Ronu Majumdar, Chitraveena Ravikiran, and Pandit Tejendra Nara.
