My Compelling Story
A vision brewing for years, Stella by Starlight was born on a chilly January evening in 2012. What was originally a solo project by guitarist and songwriter Hayden Scott, turned into a collective of him, Nigel Rajaratnam, and Shimol Sachdev. The trio, veterans of Bombay's indie scene, quickly gelled into a unit, and began playing at major festivals and venues across the country. Early in 2014, Anthappan Snehala and drummer Naama Choonawala joined-in, adding a new dimension to the band's sound. With shades of pop and folk, Stella by Starlight presents a refreshing cocktail of bright melodies, honest song-writing and a healthy dose of good vibes – completely complimentary. Nostalgia, emotion, joy, and heartbreak are the primary emotions evoked by Stella by Starlight. They are tirelessly carving a niche for themselves, in the ever-changing folk-music fabric of the country.
