Biography

Sofiyum is a LIVE band based out of Gangtok, Sikkim. They are a folk fusion outfit formed in 2012. Formed accidentally and as a collective effort of a mix of independent musicians, Sofiyum was initially a folk-based unit. They gradually developed into a solid band later on. The idea of fusing folk with modern styles of music was quite an appealing idea, an attractive but daunting task. The group draws a heady mix of varied individual influences, from jazz and blues to simple age old Lepcha folk, glam rock, acoustic and even contemporary cinema music and blend up into a single masterpiece.
