Shyam Benjamin is a professional keyboardist based out of the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. He stepped into the world of music as a child with a notion to play the keyboard purposefully. It was all that one would call involvement and a certain continual focus until he completed his third grade in playing the piano from Trinity College, London , then evolved to become a pianist, moved on to complete his eighth grade in western classical music (theory) from Trinity College, London and hence, continue to fine tune his pianist skills. Having learnt the basics, Shyam dreamt of venturing into the various kinds of music viz. Carnatic, jazz, pop, funk, fusion, world music, etc. And yes, his dream did come true when after many a miscellaneous role, came the golden opportunity of recognition and acceptance, enabling him to build a sizeable network of like-minded people, friends and fellow professionals alike. Once into the league, there has been no turning back since. Right from the days of Doordarshan, the nation’s own TV channel, Shyam’s journey since began and post a steady stroll of 17 years has made him today.
