Shreekumar Vakkiyil is a professional singer based out of the IT capital of India, Bangalore. This playback singer, composer, and songwriter catapulted to fame in South India with his super hit duet with Shreya Ghoshal titled 'Anuraga Vilochananayi', in the Malayalam film, Neelathamara, for which he won nine awards including Surya, Asiavision, and the South Scope Cine awards. He was also nominated for the Filmfare South and Kerala State awards. He has worked with Bollywood composers like Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Shantanu Moitra, Ranjit Barot, and Ismail Darbar on movie projects and jingles. He has also composed and directed songs, recently being the Bengaluru Top Guns anthem for Premier Badminton League. These accolades led to many more opportunities including a small stint as a celebrity host for Surya TVs Sammanamazha with actress, Jyothirmayi, and getting to sing for Aamir Khan's Satyamev Jayate. His first international collaboration was with percussionist and musician, Imed Alibi from Tunisia, for his album, Safar. The album consisted of musicians from Tunisia, France, Brazil, and UK. Shreekumar Vakkiyil recently formed his Vedic/Folk/Fusion ensemble, bringing together the sounds of Kerala Chenda and Idakkya with Sanskrit slokas and traditional compositions from God's own Country, Kerala, and set to modern orchestration of guitar strains, a rocking bass, and percussive loops, backed by powerful rhythms as he takes us through interesting folklores.
