Shikha Nath is a professional sitar player based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. She started her journey into North Indian classical music at a very tender age. She began learning from her father, Late Sri Bijoy Kumar Nath, who was a disciple of the world-famous sarod maestros – Pt Radhika Mohan Moitra and Pt Shaym Ganguly – and later from the legendary rabab maestro, Pt Birendra Kishore Roychoudhury. Further, she received training from sitar maestro, Pt Indranil Bhattacharya, in Kolkata. After his demise, she moved to sitar and surbhar maestro, Pt Santosh Bandopadhyay, for advanced learning. Shikha Nath is a Sangeet Visarad from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Miraj, Maharashtra. She has given several classical music performances as a sitar player in both solo and duet setups at various music conferences. Shikha now performs in Akashvani, Kolkata. At an early age, she stood first in a competition conducted by Sanskriti Samsad of Kharagpur in 1968. She gave her first performance at the Darbari Music Conference at IIT, Kharagpur in 1975.
