Shalmali Kholgade is a professional singer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. She primarily sings for Hindi/Bollywood films. Apart from singing in Hindi films, Shalmali also sings for South Indian, Marathi, Bengali, and Telugu films. Shalmali Kholgade is one of India’s leading playback singer and has won a Filmfare award. Kholgade began her Bollywood singing profession with the song ‘Pareshaan’ from the film, Ishaqzaade (2012). The song earned her several awards and nominations, including the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer award. Next year, she was again nominated for the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer award for the song ‘Pichkari’ from the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Some of her hit songs include Daaru Desi from Cocktail (2012), Aga Bai from Aiyyaa (2012), Chingam Chabake from Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013), Lat Lag Gayee from Race 2 (2013), D Se Dance from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), Shanivaar Raati and Besharmi Ki Height from Main Tera Hero (2014), Shakira from Welcome to Karachi (2015), Naach Meri Jaan from ABCD 2 (2015), and Mohabbat Buri Bemari from Bombay Velvet (2015) Shalmali’s first regional song was ‘Raja Raja’ from the Tamil film Naan Rajavaga Pogiren (2013). The song made Shalmali an accomplished singer in the South Indian film industry. She sang many other songs like Preminchaa from the Telugu film, Toofan (2013), Kala Koi Geli from the Bengali film, Proloy (2013), Jil Jil Jil from the Telugu film, Jil (2015), Maria from the Bengali film, Herogiri (2015), Kangaroo from the Marathi film, Highway (2015), and Tu Mila from the Marathi film, Timepass 2 (2015). She was one of the judges of Sony’s reality show, Indian Idol Junior.
