Shaik Rasheed is an Indian cricketer who is known for being the vice captain of the U-19 Indian cricket team that won the U-19 Cricket World Cup in February 2022.When he started training at the Prasad Cricket Academy in Hyderabad which was fifty kilometres away from his house, his father, Shaik Balisha, used to take him to the coaching every day on his scooter because of which he had to leave his job. After this, they moved back to Guntur.When he was eight years old, he got a chance to meet cricketer VVS Laxman, and he received a tournament award for a match in Andhra Pradesh. Later, he got admission to the ACAs residential cricket academy and even started living there. In the academy, he was trained by coach J Krishna Rao who was impressed by Rasheeds game. In an interview, his coach talked about him and said, He must have been 7 or 8 and was facing our U-16 bowlers quite comfortably. He looked so composed. Deep down I knew that he has talent and must nurture him delicately..In 2020, he was initially rejected at the U-14 and U-16 levels in the Andhra team. Two years after training, he was selected for the Andhra U-14 team. Shaik Rasheed with the U-14 team.In 2018, he was selected for the Vijay Merchant Trophy where he scored 674 runs at 168.50 including three centuries.In 2020, he was selected for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy where he became the second-highest run-getter and scored 376 runs in six matches.In December 2021, he became a member of the U-19 Asia Cup where he scored 90 runs on 103 balls against Bangladesh in the semi-final.He has played other U-19 ODIs against various teams including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, West Indies, and Australia.In November 2021, he was the captain of the India B team that won four matches in the Challengers Trophy. Shaik Rasheed wins the Challengers Trophy.
