Born into a musical lineage on September 30, 1972, in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. Shantanu Mukherjee was surrounded by creative influence, his father was composer Manas Mukherjee and grandfather lyricist Jahar Mukherjee. He began singing jingles and remix albums in the 1990s before finding mainstream fame with his 2000 pop ballad Tanha Dil, earning him the MTV Asia Award.In the early 2000s, Shaan's voice became ubiquitous in Bollywood: Suno Na (Jhankaar Beats, 2003) won him the Zee Cine Award. He hit a career high with Chand Sifarish (Fanaa, 2006), winning Filmfare, IIFA, Bollywood Movie, Screen, and Zee Cine Awards. He followed with Jab Se Tere Naina (Saawariya, 2007) and Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh (3 Idiots, 2009), each bringing further acclaim and cementing his place at the top.Beyond playback, Shaan made his mark on television—hosting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (2000–06) and judging The Voice India, winning the Indian Telly Award in 2003. He’s sung in over ten Indian languages, collaborated with international acts like Blue and A.R. Rahman, and recently debuted in films as an actor (Music School, 2023).Today, Shaan remains an enduring figure in Indian music, a master of romance, versatility, and heartfelt connection, whose voice continues to define milestones across pop, film, and live stages.
