Sanhita Basu Ghose, the director of Konarak Odissi Dance Academy, founded the academy in 1998 in the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. The main objective of the academy is to teach from the basic techniques up-to the depths of Odissi dance. Sanhita is a disciple of late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, late Guru Samyukta Panigrahi and Guru Muralidhar Majhi. She has received the 'Sangeet prabhakar' degree in Odissi dance from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, ranking first in class and second in all India. Through the prestigious Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Tagore Centre, UK, Sanhita had the privilege to perform worldwide in USA, UK, Latin America, China, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Sanhita has cultivated her students as good performing artists. Her daughter, Ushoshi also performs with her regularly. Her students have performed at numerous music academies like Kalaivanar Arangam, Narada Gana Sabha, Lions Clubs International, Kalakshetra Foundation, Theosophical Society School, Bengal Association, Jagannath Temple, Beach Festival in Thrissur, Thanjavur Millennium Festival, Nritya Stuti Dance Festival, Jaya TV, Doordarshan Productions and many corporate shows too.
