Sangtar is a professional flautist based out of Chandigarh, India. He was born in a small Punjabi village of Halluwal. He began to love music and literature from a very tender age. His father, Dilbag Singh, holds a keen interest in literature and music, which influenced Sangtar. His formal training began at the age of nine. Sangtar completed his primary and secondary education from schools in Halluwal and Mahilpur. During his college years, his talent surpassed several music teachers, so he was assigned the job to prepare the college music teams for youth festivals. He earned many medals and trophies during his college time. He also played the classical flute at several festivals and competitions at that time. He quit his college education when his family moved to Canada in the year 1990. Sangtar, along with his two brothers, worked hard and recorded their debut album. He composed music for Manmohan Waris’s first album, ‘Peenghan Jhootdeye’, in 1993. In 1996, Sangtar married Michelle, a studio engineer and sound designer. Together, they opened the Grind Recording studio in Canada. Later, they decided to move to America. In 2001, they opened another studio, Grind Music and Sound, in LA. Over the years, Sangtar kept up his writing skills. He wrote a poetry book which got published and has contributed several hit lyrics to a lot of Punjabi albums.
