My Compelling Story

River People is a LIVE band based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. A brainchild of Sonu Sangameswaran, this band showcases original material with urban musical landscapes combining the influences of funk fusion, jazz, African, Latin, and RnB. A lot of the material will be featured on Sonu's forthcoming album, which features Mumbai stalwarts such as Lindsay D'Mello, Sangeet Haldipur, Anurag Naidu, Kurt Peters, Gino Banks, Andrew Kanga, and Vibhas T2 Rahul to name a few. The set also includes interesting arrangements of some of the most well-known standards in the jazz and funk idiom. Sonu Sangameswaran has been playing electric bass for over a decade, and is now focused on the global sounds of electronica, hip-hop, Latin, and African music interwoven with an original sense of groove. Over the years, Sonu has performed with many independent bands including Dream Out Loud, Anal Funk, Dark Circle Factory, The Window Seat, The Vinay Kaushal Collective, and Sanjay Divecha to name a few. Sonu is an official Rotosound Strings artist as well as a Gruv Gear artist.
