Rahul Pophali is a professional tabla player based out of the IT capital of India, Bangalore. He has, over the years, carved himself a niche in the world of percussion music. Rahul’s journey with the tabla began when he was seven years old. He started professional training under the guidance of Pt Raghunath Agashe. Soon, he grasped the intricacies of the Farukhabad, Delhi, and Lucknow gharanas (schools) of the Indian classical music. Later, he pursued advanced training in Punjab gharana under the tutelage of Pt Nishikant Barodekar (disciple of Zakir Hussain and Late Ustad Alla Rakha). Rahul hit the stage at a tender age and has, ever since, accompanied several musicians of diverse styles. He has also made concert tours to Europe and Asia. He has performed with many reputed jazz, rock, flamenco, and world musicians worldwide.
