Pritam Ghoshal is a professional sarod player based out of the capital city of India, New Delhi. He was born into a musical family – Late Shri Jaharlal Ghoshal, his grandfather, used to play the percussions and was a renowned singer. He is survived by a number of disciples today. Shri Arun Kumar Ghoshal, Pritam’s father, and two uncles – Shri Arup Kumar Ghoshal and Shri Barun Kumar Ghoshal – are expert violin, tabla, and singer, respectively, as well. Pritam’s first lesson in vocal music started at the age of 14 under the tutelage of his father. He subsequently came into contact with Shri Pranab Naha, a disciple of the great sarod maestro, Pandit Radhika Mohan Moitra. Shri Naha introduced Pritam to the sarod. After the initial three years of Talim, he was fortunate to receive the blessings of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, the great sarod maestro; in 1995, he accepted Pritam as his disciple.
