Prarthana Choudhury is a professional singer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. Born and brought up in Guwahati-Assam, she has been singing since her childhood. Her performances range from various genres of Assamese music to ghazals, bhajans, folk music, old and contemporary Bollywood songs, and Indo-Western fusion music. Prarthana also composes tunes and lyrics for songs. Prarthana was amongst the ten finalists in Zee TV’s ‘Sona - Bhakti Ki Awaaz’- a special program on Indian devotional music, where she was appreciated by music stalwarts of the likes of Jagjit Singh, Anup Jalota, and Sudha Malhotra. She has been singing for PPC- North East, Doordarshan-Guwahati, and All India Radio-Guwahati. She has also sung for DD-Urdu and AIR-Mumbai. Prarthana has a couple of solo Assamese audio and video music albums to her credit. Besides singing, she also works as a voice-over artist. Her first-of-its-kind video album named ‘Revisiting Pathos’ has been appreciated by ghazal-lovers. She has done playback singing for Bollywood and sung in other Indian languages like Bengali, Marathi, and Kannada. She was invited as a guest artist at the 34th Assam Convention in the US.
