Pramod Sawant is an Indian politician and the 13th CM of Goa. He is MLA from the Sanquelim constituency in North Goa and is a member of BJP. He is also an Ayurvedic doctor and farmer by profession.During Manohar Parrikars last tenure, Pramod Sawant was elected, in March 2017, as the Speaker of the Goa State Assembly. He is the former chairman of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, which was set up by Manohar Parrikar to take up various infrastructure development works in the coastal state.He has done his Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree from the Ganga Education Societys Ayurvedic Medical College in Kohlapur.He has completed his post graduation degree in Master of Social Work (MSW) from the Tilak Maharashtra University, Pune.His wife name is Sulakshana Sawant and shes a teacher of chemistry at the Shri Shantadurga Higher Secondary school in Bicholim, Goa.His wife is the leader of Bharatiya Janta Party and current President of the Goa unit of the BJP Mahila Morcha.He likes reading books written by social activists. His is also involved in social work for the welfare of backward and downtrodden classes and he loves to meet people.When Pramod Sawant was elected as the Goa Assembly speaker, he won 20 votes against 15 for Congress legislator Aleixo Reginaldo.When Manohar Parrikar died he twitted about him that He was a statesman, guide, architect of modern Goa and a fatherly figure who has left for the heavenly abode.
