My Compelling Story
Prabhat Rao is a professional singer based out of London, United Kingdom. He was drawn towards Hindustani classical music from early childhood. In addition to his command over laya and understanding of the ragas, his focus has always been around the aesthetics of khyal and bringing out the bhava in every type of music that he presents. Some of the different styles of music that he developed an interest in are Hindustani, Carnatic, western music and lighter Indian music. The north Indian khyal style of vocal music intrigued him too. He is now pursuing a master’s degree in classical music, focusing on khyal at the University of London. He is a dedicated teacher and has trained students for exams, performances and collaborative music projects.
