Pooja Gaitonde is a professional singer based out of out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. She was indeed fortunate to have been honed in classical vocal under the tutelage of Late Pandit SCR Bhat, one of the great classical vocal virtuosos from the renowned Agra Gharana, and from his disciples, Shri Raja Upasani and Smt Suniti Gangoli. Pooja is groomed in light classical by Smt Dhanashri Pandit Rai, Shri Vikas Bhatwadekar, Swamy Chaitanya Swaroop, Shri Lalji Desai, and Ustad Rajkumar Rizvi. Pooja is now mastering the harmonium from Pt Tulsidas Borkar. She has been trained by Ustad Ibrahim Darvesh and Shri Javed Ahmed for her Urdu pronunciation which appeals to a literate audience. With a blessed voice, gifted ability, dedication and passion, it is no wonder Pooja comfortably draws attention. With a sound foothold in traditional knowledge of Raagdari, Pooja’s compositions leave an indelible impression because of the energy that emanates from her consistent search for genuine and living expressions. Lata Mangeshkar, Mehdi Hasan, Ghulam Ali, Asha Bhosle, Talat Aziz, and Jagjit Singh are her primary influences.
