Pitch Black Sound is a professional singer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. A venture by Naar, the group consists of five rappers and a music producer. They mix and produce a sound which deals with almost every genre. Their music is very diversified as they combine and rearrange whatever tracks they work on. It is a mysterious and experimental group of producers that make impressively uncategorizable music with a variety of voices filling the space in a haunting-yet-reverent way; some tracks from their EP are like wordless hymns sung by ghosts. Naar’s surrounding ambience brings some names to the table with the likes of Charlemagne Palestine and Janek Schaefer on Day of the Demons. Their debut release begins with Babylon Loan. There is a battle between brushed hi-hats along with synth lines and, on the other hand, luminous tonal elements on the other. Small gestures count for a lot in experimental releases like this one, so that a single pair of bass note, played in several measures apart, can be seen as a major theme. A crowd favourite song of this album is Kaliyuga, a soothing melody and filament-like phrases flaring up in the murk.
