Parag Praggy Mitra is a professional instrumentalist based out of Kolkata, West Bengal. The percussionist is primarily known as the drummer of a post-grunge, alternative Hindi rock act, Sixthveda, since 2009. He started playing the drums as a teenager and pursued it as a profession by the age of 20. His playing influences come from different genres of music ranging from grunge, alternative, and glam rock to Indian folk, jazz, and classical. His favourite drummers are Niko Mc'Brian, Omar Hakim, Mike Portnoy, Gavin Harrison, Chad Smith, and many more. Parag mostly had a self-learning approach towards music, but his close mate, guide, and mentor, and a notable Indian drummer – Gourav 'Gaboo' Chatterjee – helped him a lot with his drills in the early days. He started his career as a professional drummer in 2003 and, since then, as a freelance drummer, he has recorded and played LIVE for some renowned Kolkata-based Bengali bands like Abhilasha, Parashpathor, Moruddyan, Brahma, Aatma, and Alokbarsha, and solo artists like Shamik and Rupankar. He toured USA with the Bengali solo performer, Shamik, in 2008. Parag has made a mark of his own in the music industry and longs to rock and roll his way to higher levels of success!
