Pandora's Box is a LIVE band based out of the capital city of Telangana, Hyderabad. A four-piece band, their passion for music has brought them together after a three-year wait to form a band that offers music for all. “We are a progressive metal band but we also play varied genres of music. Each member brings something new to the table,” says Rohit Luke, who plays the rhythm guitar. The two-year-old band took shape after three years of contemplation. “Alan Paul and I met during graduation and our talking point was music. Only after graduating did we finally get members to form the band. The variety and culmination of dreams that the band denotes is why we named it Pandora’s Box,” says R Aditya, bass guitarist. “One of our most popular original compositions is Last Rites, which evokes wonderful audience reaction every time we play it. Though it was dedicated to a close friend of mine, who Aditya never even met, he did a wonderful job of writing the lyrics,” shares Luke. Defining their genre of music, vocalist and lead guitarist, Paul, calls it a blend of blues, metal, rock and a hint of djent. “My main inspiration is Keshav Dhar, who plays for Skyharbor. His sound is distinct and it introduced us to djent. Our drummer Ancoosch Neta, recently joined us for Lateralis by Tool, another amazing composition,” says Paul. Before anyone can stop him, Luke chips in saying, “I even listen to Backstreet Boys,” leading to a burst of laughter. The band has been a part of all major gigs across the city and won the second spot at the battle of bands at IIIT Hyderabad’s fest, Felicity 2012. “The ultimate moment for us was when we were chosen to be the only band from Hyderabad to play at the Worme Festival in Delhi last December where we introduced our latest composition,” says Paul, who is a final year student of MBA at Institute of Public Enterprise.
