Biography

Naranath is a LIVE band based out of Kochi, Kerala. The band came together in 2012 to make music that spoke to the everyday youth of Kochi - vibrant, unapologetic and unique. Since then, they have garnered attention from all over Kerala and are prime contenders in the Malayalam rock scene. The band draws its name from the folkloric 'Naranath Branthan', or 'The madman of Naranam', a man considered insane by his contemporaries for spouting ideas that were far beyond his time. The vocalist, Aldrine, came upon the story of the Naranath Branthan in a storybook and was so inspired by the spirit of the character that he decided to christen the band 'Naranath'. It immediately stuck – the members dropped the 'branthan' or 'madman' title because they don't think he was ever insane, but rather he floated over the peak of sanity.
