Biography
Napoleon's Subwoofer is a five-piece band from Bangalore which covers various genres like rock, funk, jazz, reggae, Bollywood, and blues music.
They have a story behind everything; from their distinctive name and sense of music to their mildly eccentric personalities and objectionable nicknames. Having a blast on stage is the band's speciality and blowing you away, their prime reason for being born.
Transcending boundaries is what they love doing – musically and otherwise.
Band Members: Nikhila Sarma – Vocals
Nikhila began her musical journey at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music (SAM) in Tamil Nadu, India. Three invaluable semesters at SAM enabled her to hone her craft as a vocalist under the tutelage of internationally renowned artists like Raphael Brochet (Belgium), Veronica Nunes (Brazil), Natalie John (USA) and Sreyas Narayanan (India). Her studies also exposed her to a wide variety of styles, including but not limited to jazz, soul, samba, rock and Carnatic music. She is heavily influenced by greats like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone, to name a few.
With an ever growing repertoire of creative and technical vocal ideas, she is now taking the stage by storm and is set to establish her own identity as a musician. Siddharth Suresh – Keyboards
Having been brought up in a family of Carnatic musicians, Siddharth began playing Carnatic compositions on the keyboard at the tender age of four. His early influences were naturally the greats of the Tamil music industry such as Ilayaraja and MS Viswanathan. On the western front, he has been heavily inspired by Jordan Rudess, Yanni, Rick Wakeman and Steven Wilson.
After playing in several bands across Chennai such as metal act, Djinn's Lament, he went on to strengthen his craft at SAM and studied extensively under acclaimed pianists Scot Seelig (Berklee College of Music) and Carolina Calvache (North Texas State University). As a musician, he brings a healthy blend of creativity and technical expertise to the table. His playing style involves focus on melody supported by harmonically intricate chord structures. Kishan Hebbar – Guitars
Kishan picked up guitars when he started college and his initial influences were Iron Maiden, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin. He founded the popular rock band, Shifting Scales, and has performed extensively with them across the country.
During the course of a one-year diploma in Music Performance at SAM, he studied with Ricardo Vogt (Berklee College of Music) and Brian Metrey
