An all-star collective of musicians from four continents, where Swedish & Cuban folk meet Indian classical, North American jazz and Middle Eastern music!
Mynta (pronounced as 'Mint-aa') performs a very classy, unique fusion of Swedish and Cuban folk with Indian classical and American jazz! It comprises musicians from four continents – Christian Paulin [bass], Max Ahman [guitar] and Sebastian Printz [drums] (all from Sweden), Dallas Smith [flute, clarinet and Saxophone] (from USA), Santiago Jimenez [violin] (from Cuba). On the Indian front, Fazal Qureshi (younger brother of Ustad Zakir Hussain) on tabla completes the basic line-up. The multi-faceted vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, who’s been performing with Mynta since the age of 16, joins the band whenever available. Grammy-winning legend Vikku Vinayakram (ghatam) and his grandson Swaminathan (kanjira, konokol) feature as guest artistes whenever Fazal Qureshi is not available.
