Biography

Moonburn is a LIVE band based out of Pune, Maharashtra. The band was formed in 2011 when nerdy engineering students – Ishaan, Eshaan and Mayoor – fueled by the kind of inspiration only excess alcohol and complete lack of social lives can provide, decided they needed cool alter egos. The band immediately set out to do what they were told would get them a lot of female attention, write songs and perform LIVE. To their utter surprise, they found that their songs and shows were rather well received, and soon the band became a regular at some of the prime music venues of the city, playing shows at High Spirits and the Hard Rock Cafe. A year after their inception, when they were asked to open for the German band 'Fire on Dawson' at a charity show in Mumbai, the band realised they Expectedly had some potential at making progressive music. Faced with the daunting task of taking life seriously but inspired by the brilliance of bands like Porcupine Tree and Opeth, and with their geeky fascination with odd time signatures, Moonburn decided to compile all their musical ideas together and release a progressive rock EP. The band soon got on board with producer, Aseem Dhaneshwar, who has worked with a host of acclaimed bands including Swarathma and also worked on the hit TV show, Coke Studio. With the team complete with the recruitment of manager/butter chicken enthusiast, Tanuj Joshi, the band has embarked on the journey of recording their debut EP.
