Mohini Dey is a professional guitarist/bassist based out the finance capital of India, Mumbai. She started learning the bass guitar at the tender age of three. Seven years down the line, she began performing and recording with various musicians. At the age of 17, she is described as one of the most extraordinary, creative, and the finest bass players in India. She started to professionally play in gigs all over the world, with names like Zakir Hussain, Selva Ganesh, AR Rahman, George Brooks, Sivamani, U Rajesh, Babu Choudhary, Louis Banks, FA Talafaral, Loy Mendosa, Debu Debashish, Karl Peters, Floyd Fernandes, Darshan Doshi, Clinton Cerejo, Shridhar,Vijay Prakash, Salim-Sulaiman, Shilpa Rao, Satyajeet, Sonu Kakkar, Meiyang Chang, and a lot more. She has played with Ranjit Barrot on his album called "˜Bada Boom' at the age of 13. Recently, Mohini has recorded with Louis Banks for his album called Ganga Shakti. As a child, she felt drawn to her father's bass. He noticed her interest and started teaching her the art of music. She loves playing jazz, funk, Indian classical, fusion, and Carnatic music. While most of her schoolmates used to enjoy the vacations, Mohini used to be busy shuffling her time between performing live concerts and recording studios. She has a sister, Esani, who plays Carnatic music on the guitar. Like her mother and father, Mohini too wants to pursue music as her career. Mohini has played in many festivals like Chennai's Global Music Festival, Saptrang (2013), Elephanta Festival (2013), Damru Festival, and many more. She has also worked in MTV Unplugged Season 1 and 2 and Coke Studio Season 2 and 3.
