Moglebaum is a LIVE band based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. The band consists of five musicians from Germany.
Everything started some years ago, as a one-man-project of 22-year-old producer and jazz pianist, Simon Ebener-Holscher. Soon, he was joined by other musicians. The electronic compositions were supplemented by acoustic instruments.
The beat-based music and its acoustic orchestration create a fruitful mix of genres, which defines the LIVE-character of Moglebaum.
Playful computer-beats, vocal samples and synthesiser sounds (Alessandro Fáma and Simon Ebener-Holscher) meet soulful vocals (Franziska Geiß), the saxophone with a touch of jazz (Jonas Geyersberger) mixes with groove-based drums and samples (Michael Kemkes).
The music is driving but also melancholic, surprising and produced with a passion for detail. Most of the samples are self-made, with the help of field recording of coffee machines, shopping bags or cactuses.
Bands that influenced Moglebaum’s sound are Bonobo, Flume, Caribou, and Sohn.
The name of the band has its origin in the Japanese anime, Pokémon. The fascination for this special fantasy world has initiated the idea for Moglebaum.
