Biography
Mo and the Shooting Stars is a LIVE band based out of the largest city of Assam, Guwahati. It is a five-piece band where the members excel in their own forte. The band plays alternative, folk, fusion, pop, and rock. Band Members: Mrinmoyee G Sarma – Lead singer
Singing has always been a part of her life. She started her training in Hindustani classical music right from the age of five, and later on, in Western music. She won many accolades in singing throughout in school and college. After completing her MBA, Mrinmoyee started her singing career professionally in 1996, by singing with Moonwind and Vayu, and also performing at solo shows. She performed all over Kolkata along with the band, Shiva. Besides performing all over the North-East, Delhi, Kolkata, Odisha, Mumbai, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, etc., she was also chosen as the top 10 finalists for Channel V Popstars 2. Now she is working on her own solo fusion Assamese album in Mumbai, which is due for release in April. She has formed her own band by the name of Mo and The Shooting Stars. Her genre of music is pop, rock, alternative rock, jazz, and folk-fusion. Amborish Saikia – Lead Guitars, backing vocals
Amborish is one of the best guitarists produced in Assam. He was the guitar-mainstay for Euphoria for three years when they bounced back to the Indian music scene with two hugely successful albums. Apart from the studio albums, Amborish made more than significant impact with his guitar skills in LIVE shows all across the world in places such as the USA, UAE, Indonesia, Macau (Hong Kong), Nepal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, etc. He has been featured in popular TV shows on MTV, Vh1, and Channel V as well as radio channels. Ever since winning the much coveted DSP BlackRockBlackRock with a band called Casino Blue in 2007, he has been covered by popular music magazines and journals of the country and has opened for international acts like Megadeth, Machine Head, and Smokie. Famous guitar manufacturer, Gibson, has also endorsed him. He is currently a session guitarist for the Bollywood singer, KK, as well as for bands such as Late Too Soon, Mo and the Shooting Stars, etc. He has a number of major studio projects under his name. Amborish has also been a guitar teacher since 2002 and is a guitar’s best friend right from the day he picked it up for the first time! Partha Pratim Patgiri – Bass
Partha has partnered with the best in the music in Assam and is known by all for his effortless bass playing. With immense experience in both Western and Assamese folk, Partha likes his bass to do the talking. Partha has been associated with the most popular names in music in Assam. He earns his money by working on his business during the day, but plays the bass only for his heart, and this is what makes him one of the most gifted musicians in Assam. David Goldsmith – Rhythm guitars/vocals
David performed for MTV and almost all the North-Eastern TV channels and has featured in various magazines like TNT, Eclectic Vibes, and some international blogs too. He was also the regional judge for Channel V Launch Pad Eastern Zone and is trained in Western classical music. He also has his own music school in Guwahati. Biraj Baishya – Drums
Biraj is a visharad in Tabla and stood second in the All Assam Music Competition (in tabla) in 2000. He can be called as one of the most dedicated and accomplished drummers of Assam. He played for the North East Breeze, Voodoo Child, and Bluetooth. He was awarded the 'best drummer' at the Pyrotechnic in 2012. Besides these, they have performed in many clubs and pubs in all over Assam. Mo and The Shooting Stars are currently working on their Assamese rock-fusion album.
