The line-up of Ministry of Blues comprises Philipe on the vocals and lead guitars, Vinoo on the bass guitar, Rauf on the vocals and keyboard, and Deepak on the drums. Vinoo, Deepak and Philipe have been playing and jamming together since 1993, but the band was officially founded in the year 2005. Initially, the bass guitarist in the band was Sarat Sidhan, but after a year, he exited as he had to leave Bengaluru for some professional reasons. Naming a band is quite a difficult task, and MoB was going through the same phase. They had to decide a name that suited well with the genre they play – blues-rock. After several experiments with the name, the band finally stuck to the name Ministry of Blues – coined by Deepak. MoB’s debut gig was held at Bengaluru – in front of ten people. This was followed by improved performances, with footfalls ever increasing – sometimes leading to over-flowing crowd. The collection by Ministry of Blues comprises classics like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robben Ford, John Mayall, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Deep Purple, Eric Clapton, and Gary Moore. The band is famous for distinctive rock renditions of classic songs, thus making all three – rock, rhythm and blues – appealing.
