In the last 10 years the electronica scene in India has evolved and has risen to become mainstream. During this time a duo was formed in Delhi between Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj. Medival punditz are known as one of the most influential artists that have globally achieved fame and continue to expand their vision. In the year 1997 the duo decided to fuse Indian Instruments such as flutes and sitars into electronic beats and synthesizers creating a new breed of electronic music with complicated loops and a versatile atmosphere. The two established a small studio in New Delhi and were successful in introducing the Punditz . Producers of Tabla Beat Science Bill Laswell and Zakir Husain (the table expert) were responsible for getting the Punditz officially launched in to the industry. Their vision was clearly noticeable when they performed at The Cyber Mehfil event (a gathering of impressions of artists based upon the ancient north Indian traditions and cultures). Mehfil was a collection music, poetry and dance. Since then the Punditz have become one of the most prevailing and creative producers and remixers reigning over the Indian Electronica Scene. They have also contributed to the evolution of music in Bollywood working on flicks such as Don, Chak de, Karthik calling Karthik featuring Kailash Kher Medivial Punditz also penetrated Hollywood, producing for movies such as closer and tv shows such as Prison Break and Six feet under. The punditz and Kailash kher were one of the first indian acts to appear on the cover page of Rolling Stones (India).They have preformed numerous times in Blue Frog (both in India and Mumbai) and have become exclusive representatives of India's Swiftly developing alternative and electronic scene Trans- nationally. Over the duration of their career Medivial Punditz have released 3 albums . Thier 1st album was released in 2002 under a US based record company (Six degrees) thus making them the first indian electronic artist to release on a international label. They achieved a lot of critical acclaim from india and made an impact globally. Three years later they launched their 2nd album (Medival times) giving them permanent roots in the Indie – Electro scene. In 2009 they released their 3rd album titled (Hello Hello) inspired from International Electronica, Global Pop, Indian Classical and Folk with modern day song writing. Obviously this all plays well in the clubs of Mumbai and New Delhi however Midival Punditz have likewise turned into a truly universal band, drawing in basic recognition in Europe and the States while performing their high-vitality live shows at celebrations, for example, Glastonbury and offering out venues from New York to San Francisco. Joint efforts with rising star Anoushka Shankar, "it" Bollywood arrangers Salim & Sulaiman, Sting, Norah Jones, and incalculable others in India and abroad have solidified their notoriety for being both skilled makers and musical visionaries.
