Maya Manakotia is a professional singer based out of the Chandigarh, India. She began writing poetry at the age of nine. She grew up in a family of music-obsessed members, and has heard a lot of international artists from the likes of MJ, Paul Anka, Eagles, Jim Reeves, The Beatles, Daliah Lavi, and Neil Diamond to Paul Mauriet, The Carpenters, Andy Williams, Lobo, etc. She is also influenced from Indian artists like Kishore Kumar, Jagjit Singh (Ghalib), Asha Bhonsle, and Nazia Hassan. She figured out rock n roll with U2, Coldplay, Jimi Hendrix, Indian Ocean, and Menwhopause, and kept learning while attending numerous RSJ performances, underground music scenes, and LIVE acts all over. In Indian rock, she likes only the band, Pentagram. She is a trained Indian classical vocalist from Sri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra and truly believes that Shastriya Sangeet (classical music) is an ocean of wisdom, peace and compassion. She also listens to Western classical music and is very inspired by Bach and Paul Mauriet. She can sing anything ranging from rock, pop, blues, Sufi, Hindi, Bollywood, old songs, fusion, and bhajans to spiritual music in English and Hindi.
