The time period between 1994 and 1995 had been the nightmare for him; as he constantly lost his matches against Owen Hart, Razor Ramon, Hakushi, The Imposter Undertaker, Hunter Hearst, The Ringmaster Steve Austin, and others.He teamed up with his brother Jeff Hardy in 1996 and they played their first match as a tag team against The Smoking Guns, eventually, they lost it.On July 5, 1999, Matt and his brother Jeff Hardy won their first tag team title defeating The APA.
